About my Canvas Prints
Walter Benjamin, in his essay "The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction," argues that the mass reproduction of a work makes it lose its "aura," that uniqueness that makes it unrepeatable, and that is why original works have high prices.
However, this does not mean that reproduction has no value, and even more so if it is a limited edition and its meaning changes: it democratizes access to art, transforms the relationship of the public with the work and gives it new meanings in each context where it is exhibited.
The irony is this: we live in an era where people pay without hesitation for mass-produced objects—and do not even question them.
📌 Examples of this:
An iPhone is not unique, but people pay more than €1,000 for it.
A printed book is not the author's original manuscript, but no one disputes its value.
A poster for a cult movie is a print, but it can be worth hundreds or thousands on resale.
An engraving by Goya, Dalí or Picasso is a print, but it is considered legitimate art.
“A print is not a simple copy. It is a key to a universe that would otherwise only exist in the hands of a few. It is a fragment of a breathing work, a visual vibration designed to transform the space where it is displayed. It is not decoration, it is presence. And only a few will exist—because exclusivity is non-negotiable.”
